You are going to meet your baby today

I chose this theme from the book because I do understand every single story from the book.  I read about different women and their labor. Every woman had a unique experience of giving birth. Just imagine you are going to the hospital for something you had in mind but the staff decides to do something else because they think it is the better option for you. The mother may be asking herself If everything is ok with the baby? Is my baby going to be fine?  The mother is in the last months of her pregnancy, which is an exciting moment because the mom is in the last moments from meeting her baby.

The expectations are similar to the feeling you get when you are expecting a  Hurricane, and the mother is in the hospital starting to get nervous because she is scared about the situation all she wants is to have good labor, but it is not going to be the way she planned it. In 2002, in New York, Michelle Macseeny was induced before labor, meaning they didn’t allow her to have a natural labor, they didn’t allow her body to do the job. She was in the hospital thinking they were going to do a checking sound, suddenly, something unexpected, she was going to meet her baby. Something she didn’t plan it, she wasn’t aware of the situation or the doctors planned that day.  McSweeney’s feeling, not in control of this situation, she was feeling she didn’t have an option or desire what to choose. The sad part even though she was scheduled to be induced, all the drugs, all the tests she ended up having a cesarean, that the way she had her baby, in a circumstance she didn’t plan.

Candice Hilton, in Jackson, Mississippi, was scheduled for an induction in October 2000.  She was already set up on her mind the everything was going to be smooth. When she arrived at the hospital, the staff broke her water, start an IV, they strapped her to a fetal monitor, even she was in pain for 3 hours because in her mind she wants to try to do it a least natural, she asks for epidural, after a few hours, Hilton was fully dilated. She pushed for 2 hours, the baby’s head emerged a nurse put her weight on her abdomen, probably trying to help her to get the baby out, no a good experience for her going thru a lot, not expecting a good experience, she had her baby all that joy probably made her to forget the bad experience she had in the hospital.

Renee Johnson from Virginia, typical in a mom going to the bathroom to pee at 3 a.m, since in the last month the feeling of going to the bathroom is more often. But for Reene was something else it wasn’t going to pee, she realized it was amniotic fluid, her water broken. She rushes to the hospital, even when she arrived, she wasn’t full dilated, after couple hours, she still not fully dilated, the doctor gives her something to help with the process, 2 hours later she had her baby. Her circumstances of having the baby were more desperation, even her water broke, the baby wasn’t ready yet to be born, so they give probably some medication to accelerate the labor.  All three women intended to go into labor naturally and give birth with minimal intervention, but they treat them there were highrisk, many women meet their babies in different way, but the only way all mom want a smooth labor and meet their baby.
